SIGNED BY AUTHOR on half title page, inscribed "With enthusiasm..." to actress Louise Closser Hale, and dated September 7, 1924 above title. Below title is a presentation inscription in pencil by Hale's sister, Myla Jo Closser, stating that the book was presented to Mayme Ober Peak, one of the first female reporters to cover the American film industry, at the death of Louise Closser Hale. Inscription is dated 1933. There is also a long inscription to a Russell Walter on the facing page, signed by "P. K."

443pp. Index. 24 coloured illustrations and 83 photographs. Top edge gilt.

Some very light moisture staining to top or bottom edges of about 1/3 of the pages - hardly offensive, and no rippling or other damage. Only library markings are a stamp on verso of front free endpaper and another at bottom text block edge, some minor remnants of attachments on rear endpapers, and call letters at bottom spine. Front and rear hinges have been professionally reinforced with cloth tape. Gilt lettering on front and spine is faded. Cover corners are rubbed to boards; top and bottom spine have small tears to surface cloth. Rear cover shows some faint moisture staining, visible mainly at an angle.
